Mumbai North Election Result 2024 LIVE: Vote counting for the Mumbai North Lok Sabha seat began at 8 AM. While Maharashtra holds 48 of 543 Lok Sabha seats, Mumbai North will be in the spotlight and will closely be monitored as Union Minister and BJP leader Piyush Goyal faces off against Congress candidate Bhushan Patil. The voting for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls in Mumbai North occurred on May 20. 

The Mumbai North constituency participated in the fifth phase of this year's Lok Sabha elections on May 20, along with five other key constituencies in Mumbai. As the counting of votes progresses, Piyush Goyal's anticipated victory will further solidify BJP's stronghold in the region, continuing the party's legacy of electoral success in Mumbai North.

Mumbai North: A Key BJP Stronghold

Union Minister and BJP leader Piyush Goyal is projected to emerge victorious in the highly contested Mumbai North Lok Sabha constituency while facing off with Congress candidate Bhushan Patil. The Mumbai North seat, one of Maharashtra's 48 parliamentary constituencies, encompasses the Mumbai Suburban district and includes six assembly segments: Borivali, Dahisar, Magathane, Kandivali East, Charkop, and Malad West.  

In the previous 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP's Gopal Shetty won the Mumbai North seat with a commanding lead, securing 706,678 votes. His opponent, Urmila Matondkar of the Indian National Congress (INC), received 241,431 votes, resulting in a significant margin of 465,247 votes in Shetty's favour. This victory reinforced the BJP's dominance in the region.

The 2014 elections also saw Gopal Shetty emerging victorious with 70.15 per cent of the votes, while Sanjay Nirupam of Congress garnered 22.97 per cent. Historically, the BJP has maintained a strong presence in Mumbai North, with veteran leader Ram Naik securing the seat five times.

Union minister and senior BJP leader Piyush Goyal won Mumbai North seat by securing 6,80,146 votes, leading by a margin of 3,57,608. Meanwhile, Bhushan Patil from Congress took the 2nd spot with 3,22,538 votes under his belt.
