New Delhi: Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi on Sunday hosted a tea party for the newly-elected MPs, who are probable to be included in the new cabinet, at his residence in the national capital ahead of the grand oath-taking event to be held later this evening. 

Several leaders, including Nirmala Sitharaman and Sarbananda Sonowal were seen arriving at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, the Delhi residence of Narendra Modi to attend the tea meeting today. 

The saffron party leaders Piyush Goyal, S Jaishankar and Dharmendra Pradhan and RLD Chief Jayant Singh Chaudhary were also seen marking their presence at the customary high tea ceremony. Telangana BJP chief G Kishan Reddy and party leader Bandi Sanjay arrived at the venue in the same car.
 

I am going to meet the PM: LJP Leader Chirag Paswan

LJP (Ram Vilas) supremo Chirag Paswan also left from his residence in the national capital for the meeting and said , "I am going to meet the PM."
BJP leaders Amit Shah, JP Nadda, Rajnath Singh, Kiren Rijiju, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Manohar Lal Khattar, Shivraj Singh Chouhan also arrived for the meeting with Narendra Modi who will head the coalition government at the Centre. 

News agency ANI quoted Republican Party of India Rajya Sabha MP Ramdas Athawale as saying, "The Prime Minister has got a chance for the third time and history is being created under his leadership. I am happy that I am from the independent community and he has given me this responsibility, for which I thank the Prime Minister. Whatever portfolio I get, I will fulfil it with responsibility."

Good Fortune of Country That Modiji is Taking Oath: Shivraj Singh Chauhan

While addressing the media, former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan said, "It is the good fortune of the country that Modiji is taking oath for the third time. The resolution of a developed India will be fulfilled...the country will become a world leader ..." On being asked about getting a ministerial post, Shivraj Singh Chouhan said, “I have no information as of now...” 

BJP leaders Jyotiraditya Scindia, Manohar Lal Khattar, Raksha Khadse, Nityanand Rai, Harsh Malhotra Bhagirath Choudhary and JDS leader HD Kumaraswamy were among the attendees at the meeting. BJP MP-elect Rajnath Singh also left from his residence for PM's residence. BJP leaders Jitin Prasada, Ravneet Singh Bittu also arrived at 7, LKM this morning.  

PM-designate Modi will be sworn-in for the third consecutive term at 7.15 pm today along with his council of ministers in a ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. The event will be witnesses by several world leaders including Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu, Sri Lanka President Ranil Wickremesinghe among others. 

Security Beefed Up Near Rashtrapati Bhawan

Heavy security has been deployed near the venue where the grand event will take place. Traffic restrictions have also been imposed in parts of Delhi to facilitate VVIP movement in the city. Around 1,100 traffic police personnel of the Delhi Police have been deployed to thwart any untoward incident.
The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) unanimously passed a resolution to elect Narendra Modi as their leader on June 5. 

As per the results announced by the Election Commission of India on June 4, the BJP secured 240 seats, falling short of the majority mark of 272 in the 543-member House. Meanwhile, the Congress won 99 seats, improving its 2019 tally of 52 seats. In the 2019 polls, BJP had won 303 seats in the 2019 general elections and 282 seats in the 2014 general elections.
