Purnea Lok Sabha Election Result LIVE: Situated in Seemanchal, Purnea has emerged as the most interesting seat in this Lok Sabha elections with Pappu Yadav filing his nomination as an independent candidate after joining the Congress party. The constituency had all the eyes as counting began at 8am on Tuesday, June 4. Surprising all, Pappu Yadav emerged victorious, defeating his nearest rival by over 23,000 votes. Pappu Yadav garnered 5,67,566 votes, while NDA candidate Santosh Kumar gained 5,43,709 votes. There was a three way contest in Purnea, as NDA has reposed its faith in sitting JDU MLA Santosh Kumar. Kumar had won the 2019 Lok Sabha election garnering over 6,00,000 votes. 

RJD candidate Bima Bharti stood as distant third with just 27,000 votes in her kitting. Pappu Yadav joined the Congress party merging his Jan Adhikar Party, wishing to contest from Purnea on a Congress ticket. However, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has fielded Rupauli MLA Bima Bharti from Purnea in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Bima Bharti recently switched to RJD by dumping JDU. RJD leader and former Bihar deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav camped for around 3 days in Purnea, campaigning for Bima Bharti. He had even asked the voters to vote for NDA candidate but not Pappu yadav.

A close battle is being witnessed by independent candidate Pappu Yadav and B+NDA candidate Santosh Kumar in Bihar's Purnea seat.

Pappu Yadav Fate Hangs in Balance 

Pappu Yadav had expressed the wish for a "friendly fight" in Purnea, citing the example of Wayanad in Kerala where Rahul Gandhi's re-election is being challenged by Annie Raja of CPI, despite the party being an INDI bloc ally like the Congress. The Congress' Bihar unit, however, seems reluctant for any type of fight with RJD, on which it has become heavily dependent over the years, having itself become a spent force in the state.

Finally, Pappu Yadav filed his nomination as an independent candidate from Purnea Lok Sabha seat. After filing his nomination, he claimed that he had requested Lalu Yadav to allow him to contest from Purnea, but he refused.
