New Delhi: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MP Ram Mohan Naidu, who was inducted in the Modi 3.0 Cabinet, attained another feat on Sunday for being the youngest-ever Union Cabinet Minister. Journey of Naidu, from a promising young leader to achieving the title of being the youngest-ever Central Cabinet Minister, exemplifies a blend of loyalty to his party.

Ram Mohan Naidu, the 36-year-old Union minister representing the Srikakulam Lok Sabha constituency of Andhra Pradesh. He is among the 16 Lok Sabha MPs from the TDP.

Naidu's father Kinjarapu Yerran Naidu Also Held Title of Youngest Union Cabinet Minister in 1996

His father Kinjarapu Yerran Naidu, a TDP leader and former Union minister, also held the title of youngest Union Cabinet minister in 1996. Now, Ram Mohan Naidu surpassed his father’s record 28 years later by becoming the youngest Cabinet minister in the NDA government.

Naidu, an electrical engineer, who studied at Purdue University in the USA is a 2020 Sansad Ratna Award winner. He later did his post graduation in MBA from Long Island. Ram Mohan Naidu first entered the Parliament in 2014 from Srikakulam and repeated this feat for the third time in 2024 from the same constituency.

In the 2024 election, he defeated YSRCP’s P Tilak with a majority of over 3.2 lakh votes.

His father’s tragic demise in a car accident in 2012 propelled him into the realm of politics.

He began his electoral career, at the age of 26, when he contested and won the Lok Sabha elections from Srikakulam in 2014, making waves as the second youngest MP in the 16th Lok Sabha.

He was part of several Parliamentary committees over the past decade Acknowledging his outstanding contributions, he was honoured with the Sansad Ratna Award in 2020 for his performance as an MP. Ram Mohan Naidu's hobbies include photography, which he pursued seriously during his college days. He is also an avid sports enthusiast, with fondness for basketball and cricket.
