Recent political picture in the state:
Uttarakhand has been a bastion for the saffron party with BJP's Trivendra Singh Rawat as the CM of the state. In the assembly election in 2017, the party won 57 seats out of the 70 assembly seats. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections as well, the BJP had won all five seats.
The state gathered eyeballs when Congress chief Rahul Gandhi on April 6 while addressing an election rally in the state accused the PM of humiliating his 'guru' LK Advani. A day earlier, on April 5, PM Modi in his rally in Uttarakhand's Dehradun said that 'Congress and Corruption go hand in hand.'
The Lok Sabha elections in the state take place in the first phase.
The country goes to polls in seven phases from April 11 till May 19 while the counting will take place on May 23.
