Ever since the makers announced about the film '83 and Ranveer Singh's role in the film as the former all-rounder Indian cricketer Kapil Dev, the fans of the actor have been eager to see him on the big screen. The first challenge an actor faces while doing a biopic is to portray the character in the most relatable way possible. Fitness consultant Rajiv Mehra recently shared the details of the cast's transformation with a leading news portal in an interview. He revealed that the actors look exactly like the 1983 World Cup Squad.
Rajiv was also an assistant to Balwinder Sandhu, who was a part of Indian cricket team which won the World Cup in 1983. While sharing the details, he mentioned that giving the actors the right techniques to pull off their characters as cricketers was his responsibility. He said that the training session for the actors started last year in August, and lead actor Ranveer Singh joined the sessions from October. Adding to the conversation, he also mentioned that Ranveer was 11 kg overweight for his character before training.
Talking about the biggest challenge while training them, Rajiv explained that it was to take the cast into the skin of their characters and to make them think like players. The actors went through sprinting and body language sessions followed by basics batting and bowling sessions. Expressing his experience, he said that it made him feel as if he was training kids. While the conversation, he added that the outcome of these training resulted in the perfect replica of their thought and according to him that is the most USP (Unique Selling Point) of the film.
