Ajaz Khan has been sent to 14-day judicial custody in relation to his case for uploading objectionable videos on social media.

As per PTI, a Mumbai court announced 14-day judicial custody for the actor on Saturday. His lawyer said that they will file an application with the magistrate, the report claimed. 

Khan was in police custody till Saturday after a magistrate court’s decision about the same on Friday. 

The Cyber Crime unit of the Mumbai Police arrested Khan on Wednesday for posting inflammatory videos on the social media app TikTok. In the the first one, he urged members of a religious community to take ‘revenge’ over a lynching incident in  Jharkhand. In the second video, he featured alongside a group of  TikTok ‘stars’, whose account was suspended after Mumbai Police lodged a case against them. They mocked Mumbai Police in the video. 

Police said that the video created ‘hatred among public at large’ and promoted ‘enmity on grounds of religion.’ 

The official statement read, “Cyber Crime Police Station, Mumbai had received a complaint along with few videos which have gone viral on social media. It was found that Ajaz Khan created/uploaded these videos with objectionable contents mainly promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion etc, created hatred among public at large.  

It continued, "After due enquiry, on 17/07/2019, a case has been registered against Ajaz Khan, vide Cr 36/2019, U/S 153 A, 34 IPC, and 67 IT Act. He has been arrested in this case and further investigation is being done by Cyber Crime Police Station, Mumbai.”

Filmmaker and President of the Indian Film and Television Directors Association, Ashoke Pandit was one of those who registered a complaint with the police regarding the videos. He had tweeted, "Thank U @MumbaiPolice for arresting @ajazkhanActor for a controversial #TikTokVideo. I also had filed a complaint at Juhu Police station on 16th July 2019. He is a menace to the society." However, he has deleted his tweet now.

Khan, known for ‘Bigg Boss’, among other TV shows and films, has been controversy’s favourite child over the years. 

Most recently, he was booked for assaulting a model at an event in May. Previously, he was arrested for sending objectionable photos to a woman in 2016. He was held for possession of drugs in October 2018.
