With absolutely no background from the Hindi film industry, Akshay Kumar today is amongst the highest paid A-list actors in the movie business. Akshay's real name is Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia and his journey from Amritsar to Mumbai hasn't been easy. He is a commercially successful actor who has made his own niche in Bollywood and is amongst the highest tax-paying actors in the country. His latest film Mission Mangal crossed the Rs 190 crore mark at the box-office collection recently. Akshay is known for his obsession with fitness and his versatility as an actor. The various professions Akshay Kumar opted for before trying his luck in Bollywood 

Akshay Kumar recently celebrated his 52nd birthday and also announced his upcoming period drama film Prithviraj on his social media. He made his Bollywood debut with the movie Saugandh in 1991 and has been in the industry for 28 years. However, his journey towards climbing the success ladder wasn't very smooth. Before entering Bollywood, he worked in numerous fields and opted for various professions. 'Khiladi' Kumar worked as a martial arts teacher, an artificial jewellery seller, a waiter and a background dancer before he tried his luck in Bollywood. In the 1990s he started his acting career, initially, he did a couple of action movies like Khiladi series, Deedar, Mr Bond and Eilaan. These films worked in his favour and he was tagged as an action hero. After that Akshay tried his luck in romance & comedy, with Dhadhkan, Hera Pheri, Dil Toh Pagal Hai, Main Khiladi Tu Anari and Yeh Dillagi. With Yeh Dillagi, Akshay was nominated in the Best Actors category for many award shows. His performances were highly appreciated and his popularity was seemingly increasing amidst the audiences for his acting skills.
