Zanjeer

Even though Amitabh began gaining fame for his acting skills during the first four years of his time in films, his breakthrough came with Zanjeer in 1973. The movie is about an honest police officer who chases a crime lord who was involved in his parents’ death. The movie was directed by Prakash Mehra. The movie had Rs. 6 crore revenue, including a net collection of Rs. 3 crore.

Deewar

Deewar is a struggle between two brothers as one joins the police and one joins the underworld. The movie also stars Shashi Kapoor, Nirupa Roy, and Praveen Babi. The movie was released in 1975. The movie got a collection of around Rs. 2.7 billion worldwide. The iconic dialogue “Mere Pass Maa Hai,” is from this movie.

Sholay

The movie Sholay, one of the evergreen movies of Bollywood, was released in 1975. The movie was directed by Ramesh Sippy. Amitabh was cast alongside Sanjeev Kumar, Dharmendra, Amjad Khan, Hema Malini, and Jaya Bachchan. According to Box Office India, the movie has earned Rs. 150 million net income.

Don

Don was Amitabh Bachchan’s 1978 blockbuster hit. The movie was directed by Chandra Barot. The movie also starred Zeenat Aman, Pran, Iftekhar and Om Shivpuri. Bachchan plays the role of a wanted criminal in the movie. This crime thriller was classified as ‘a golden jubilee’ by Box Office India. It grossed around  Rs. 7 crore in India.

Black

Black is a critically acclaimed movie that was released in 2005. The movie featured Rani Mukerji along with Amitabh Bachchan. the later played the role of Rani’s teacher. The character of Rani, Michelle, is a girl with visual and hearing impairment. The movie was the highest-grossing Indian movie of 2005 overseas.
