The Indian Women’s Rugby XVs team who represented the country at the Asia Rugby Women’s Championship created history winning their first ever International 15s with a 21-19 victory over Singapore on Sunday, June 23. The 26-member squad led by captain Vahbiz Bharucha graced the field at Southern Plains Sports Field, Manila, the Philippines and finished as third in the Asia Rugby Women’s Championship Division 1.

Following the same, several Bollywood stars came forward to congratulate the team for achieving the remarkable feat. 

Veteran Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan was one of the pioneers to extend greetings to the women in Blue. Sharing a post stating the same, Big B wrote, "wow .. !! this is great news !! well-done ladies !! proud of you all"

'Dil Dhadakne Do' actor Rahul Bose, who is described as an 'India Rugby player (1998-2009)' in his Twitter bio, also extended heartfelt wishes for the Indian Women’s Rugby team.

Sharing a heartwarming video of a player getting emotional post the match, he wrote, "This is the most heartening news to read! Well done #TeamIndia women! You always had it in you! Let nothing stop you. We will do everything possible to help you onward and upward! @asiarugby"

Meanwhile, actress Raveena Tandon also came forward to extend greetings to the Indian Team. Sharing a video by Rugby India, she wrote, "Congratulations girls! You make us truly proud! The squad who made its international debut last year as part of a 15-day Indian National Training camp held in Bhubaneswar from 2nd to 16th June. The players representing the country in the International platform were selected from different parts of the country. Seven players from Odisha had made the cut to the national representation. The shortlisting was reportedly done during the All India Division 1 and Division 2 tournaments, which were held in Mumbai and Ludhiana days back.
