Actor Angad Bedi who was seen in the courtroom drama film ‘Pink’ is once again going to enter the court for ALT Balaji’s court drama series ‘The Verdict-stat Vs Nanavati’. The series will consist of 10 episodes and will be helmed by Shashant Shah. The series is based on the real-life incident of the 1959 trial of naval officer KM Nanavati. The officer had shot three bullets from his revolver into a businessman and then went and confessed his crime to the police.
Angad Bedi will lawyer up for his role as he will be playing the role of the successful lawyer Karl Khandalvala. Khandalvala is also a prominent Indian art connoisseur and an Indian Air Force officer. He was a long time trustee and chairman of erstwhile Prince Wales Museum, Mumbai. He was also honoured with the Padma Shri for his contribution in the field of art.
"After Inside Edge, I was keen to do a show only if it ups the ante in terms of uniqueness of storyline. I heard the concept of this show, it just blew my mind! Powerful and exceptional roles like these are what actor dreams are made of,” Angad said. “The story at its core is so powerful, and who wouldn’t take up the opportunity to play Karl Khandalawala, the experienced top running criminal lawyer. It’s an interesting role and I have already started preparing for it. I am so glad to have got this opportunity to work with Shashant Shah who is going to direct this show,” he added.
Filmmaker Tinu Suresh Desai made 'Rustom' in 2016 which was also based on the same case. In the film, Akshay Kumar's role was inspired by KM Nanavati's character and he was even bestowed with the National Award that year.
Angad Bedi was last seen in the film 'Soorma', which was the story of the international hockey player Sandeep Singh. The actor got married in May to Neha Dhupia in a private ceremony and are now expecting their first baby.
