Anil Kapoor: Mr. India's 35-year-long journey in Bollywood

Anil Kapoor, who was last seen in the 2018 film Fanney Khan, has done more than 100 films in his acting career. The actor made his Bollywood debut in a leading role in the year 1979 with the film Hamare Tumhare. Since then, there has been no looking back for him. Throughout his acting career, the actor has delivered a number of hits like Mr. India, Ram Lakhan, Nayak: The Real Hero, and Pukar, to name a few.

Anil Kapoor’s extraordinary journey

Anil Kapoor has spent more than 35 years in Bollywood. After making his debut, he featured in a number of films in the same decade, namely, Marshal, Meri Jung, Karma(I), Tehzaab, Ram Lakhan, and Parinda, among others. In the next decade, he featured in films like Ghar Ho Toh Aisa Ho, Lamhe, Deewana MastanaBiwi no. 1, and many more. One of the most critically acclaimed films of Anil Kapoor, Mr. India, is loved by children and grown-ups alike even today. The 1987 Shekhar Kapur film did tremendously well at the box office. The character Arun Verma, which was played Anil Kapoor, was very well known amongst the children. Amrish Puri as Mogambo was also a well-known face back then.

Anil Kapoor is known across the world

Anil Kapoor also gained international recognition with the Danny Boyle film Slumdog Millionaire which won multiple Oscar Academy Awards. The actor also featured in an installment of the Mission Impossible series opposite Tom Cruise in the year 2011. The actor has a production house of his own, called the Anil Kapoor Film Co Pvt Ltd. A number of films have been produced under this banner including 2018 films Veere Di Wedding and Fanney Khan.

Earlier, Anil Kapoor took to Instagram to express his gratitude and nostalgia on completing more than 35 years in Bollywood. The actor posted an image sketching out the road map of his acting career. In the caption, he shared that he does not remember how his life was before entering the industry.

In an interview with the PTI, the actor said, "The journey here started with Woh Saat Din, that released in 1983 on June 23. I started getting work, was appreciated and I became successful. As they say trade-able, sale-able commodity, there were big films, people putting money on me." 

He also said that he was happy to be able to connect with the audience. Anil Kapoor has a number of films lined up for release. He will be seen in the John Abraham starrer Pagalpanti and also Mumbai Saga.
