Popular Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana opened up on his wife Tahira Kashyap's battle with cancer. In an earlier interview, the actor revealed details about how he got to know the news. Ayushmann Khurrana also spoke about how he overcame the initial shock and celebrated his wife's resolve to fight through the disease. Ayushmann and Tahira have been married since 2008.

Ayushmann Khurrana received the news on his birthday 

Ayushmann has said he first heard about his wife’s cancer on his birthday. He opened up about this in an interview in April 2019. When questioned about the topic, Ayushmann Khurrana spoke of Tahira Kashyap's bravery in the face of such adversity. The actor also lauded his wife for helping him stay strong through her fight against cancer. Ayushmann said, “It was very difficult. Very difficult and thanks to her that she was brave enough to take that positively. Otherwise we would have broken, completely. I was in the middle of two films. I was promoting these two films - Andhadhun and Badhaai Ho. And we got to know about it on my birthday. We saw Manmarziyaan on September 14, and we got to know about this disease that day."

'I want to celebrate my life and take it head-on'  

Ayushmann Khurrana also spoke about how his wife Tahira Kashyap overcame the initial shock. “She said that 'I want to celebrate my life and take it head-on and we are together in this - both fighting the disease while promoting the films'. It was a collective effort. I am glad that she has overcome and as we speak, she is delivering a lecture on how to fight cancer. She is an inspiration." (sic.) 

Tahira Kashyap has also spoken about her fight with cancer at length in public. On her social media account, Tahira has often posted detailed accounts of her battle against cancer. Tahira has also given lectures on what it feels like to be afflicted by the disease, and shared her experience in battling the illness.  Ayushmann has supported her in every step of her struggle against the disease and has often lauded his wife's courage in her battle against cancer.
