Ayushmann Khurrana was the perfect actor to play Pooja in Dream Girl?

National Award Winner, Ayushmann Khurrana is winning hearts with his latest release Dream Girl. Dream Girl hit a century, raking in a business of Rs. 101.40 crores and counting at the box office. Dream Girl is starring Ayushmann Khurrana next to Nushrat Bharucha along with Annu Kapoor, Vijay Raaz, Abhishek Bannerjee, Manjot Singh, Nidhi Bisht, Rajesh Sharma, Raj Bhansali. The film is Raaj Shaandilyaa's directorial debut. Dream Girl is bankrolled by Balaji Motion Pictures.

Director reveals why Ayushmann was the perfect 'Pooja'

Dream Girl director Raaj Shaandilyaa reveals that Ayushmann Khurrana was his first choice for the movie. He was the only actor to whom the script of Dream Girl was narrated. He further stated that Ayushmann was well-suited for the body language and voice modulation that was required for the character of Pooja.  Raaj Shaandilyaa thinks that in the movies the characters are the main focus for the audience and not the hero or heroines.

The director also mentioned that he had doubts whether or not the audience will accept him in a comic role because of his recent subtle roles. The director also feels that Dream Girl could be called Ayushmann's first massy entertainer. Raaj Shaandilyaa, the director, also went on to say in several interviews that he wanted the film to be a family entertainer, which is why he did not add any adult jokes in the film.

About the film Dream Girl

In the film, Ayushmann Khurrana takes up the job of a tele-caller, who entertains his callers by calling himself 'Pooja'. The film takes a hilarious turn when his customers/ callers fall for 'Pooja', unaware of her real identity. The movie turns chaotic when the callers are ready to take each other down to marry 'Pooja'.

Movie critic Taran Adarsh tweeted about Dream Girl.

Currently, besides Dream Girl,  Ayushmann Khurrana is gearing up for his upcoming films Bala, Gulabo Sitabo and, Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan. All three films are set to release between Diwali 2019 and summer of 2020.
