'Bala': Will Yami Gautam accept a bald man as her life partner? Here's her answer

It is a known fact that factors like the baldness of a man often pose a hurdle for them when they are trying to find a life partner. Not one, but two movies revolved around this topic in the last week, first with Sunny Singh’s Ujda Chaman and then with Ayushmann Khurrana's Bala. But for the person who played the role of Ayushmann’s wife in the movie, Yami Gautam, the baldness of a man is hardly an issue when it comes to choosing her life partner. The actor shared that bald men look really 'cool', and that she believed in the message conveyed through the film of loving oneself before loving others.

Yami recently held a screening of Bala in Mumbai where she was asked  by media persons if she’d accept a bald man as her life partner. Her initial response was “Why not?” Before she added, "I feel bald men are really cool. They look really cool. The idea of the film is to tell people that they should love themselves first, and only then can you expect others to love you.” 

Yami opens up on Bala 

Yami Gautam plays the role of a TikTok star in the movie, who then falls in love with Ayushmann’s character Bala. However, he hides from her that he is bald, by wearing a wig when he woos her. They get married too, before the truth brings a turn to their marital life.

On her role, she said, "I played a very different role in the film for the first time. I am feeling really happy that I got the opportunity to play Pari who is a TikTok queen."

Bala earned rave reviews from the critics and it is now gearing up to be a big hit at the box office too. The movie had already crossed Rs 60 crore-mark in merely five days and a total in excess of Rs 100 crore is guaranteed. When asked about the success, the Vicky Donor star replied, “I am happy with the way the film is doing in theatres because we all knew that Amar (Kaushik) has made a really good film. But when you get such a response that shows in the box-office numbers, it feels special. We are getting a lot of calls and messages, and people are sharing videos while watching the film in theatres so, it feels very overwhelming. People are connecting with the film and are finding the film funny and entertaining.” 

Bala also stars Bhumi Pednekar in a lead role. The movie has been directed by Stree fame Amar Kaushik. Bala has been produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films.
