The homeland of the legend who wrote our National Anthem, Rabindranath Tagore, Bengal has also given us one of the most celebrated literates. The state has the legacy of producing superb literature. In the world of entertainment, Bengal has also been the birthplace of renowned filmmakers like Satyajit Ray and Rithvik Ghatak. Begum Jaan was a women-centric film starring Vidya Balan in one of the most bold and strong characters. The story of the film was about eleven prostitutes who refuse to part ways with their brothel and each other during the partition between India and Pakistan.
