Many writers in Bollywood adapt scripts from various sources. Literature is also a major source of great stories that can be influential to the writing and the script. There are numerous novels and stories that were adapted and made into movies.

Here are some of the movies that were based on novels:

Masoom

Naseeruddin Shah, Shabana Azmi, Jugal Hansraj, and Urmila Matondkar starred in the movie Masoom in 1983. The movie was adapted from the book Man, Woman and Child by Erich Sehgal. It talks about the trials and tribulations faced by a family because of a big mistake made by a family member.

The upcoming movie Dil Bechara is also an adaptation of the book A Fault In Our Stars by John Green. The movie stars Sushant Singh Rajput and Sanjana Sanghi. It will be releasing on November 29, 2019.
