Music plays an important role in any Bollywood mass entertainer. Here is the list of films that gave the hit number of their releasing year and are evergreen.

There are niche movie genres which have made their way either towards commercial success at the box office, critical acclaim from fans, or both. These genres have moved through eras of moviegoers to etch a place for themselves as classics or fan favourites. Bollywood's genre of musical movies has its own set of hardcore fans. Hum Aapke Hai Kaun (1994)

The Sooraj Barjathiya directorial Hum Aapke Hai Kaun is a musical-comedy-drama released in 1994, starring Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit in the lead roles. The movie was loved by the audience at the box office. The movie was also reported as the first-ever Indian film to gross over ₹100 crores. The film had over 10 songs in its music album including wedding and romantic hits. 

Taal (1999) 

The 1999's musical-romance film featuring Aishwarya Rai and Anil Kapoor robbed the heart of the audience with its soundtrack Taal Se Taal Mila and Ramta Jogi. The music director A.R Rahman composed 14 songs for the film. Accomplished singers like Sonu Nigam, Sukhwinder Singh, Alka Yagnik, and Udit Narayan were among those who lent their voice for the film. The music composition of the film was appreciated by critics and is still in the favourite list of many fans. 

Aashiqui (1990)

Every dreamer at some point has hummed this 90's song 'Dheerey Dheerey Se'. The prequel of 2013's musical hit film Aashiqui 2, marked a lasting impression in the memories of the audience with its story of a young aspiring singer. Mahesh Bhatt directorial film has 12 songs vocalised by Kumar Sanu, Anuradha Paudwal, and Nitin Mukesh. Music directors of the film Nadeem Saifi and Shravan Rathod gave the evergreen songs that are still fresh in the minds of the audience.

Khamoshi: The Musical (1996)

Salman Khan and Manisha Koirala is a musical-romance-drama film. The story of a young girl aspiring to become a singer touch the right chord of the audience. The film gave the hits like Bahon Ke Darmiyan and Aaj Main Upar. The film also starred Nana Patekar in a pivotal role. The music album of the film has around 10 songs. 

Rock On (2008)

It's difficult to not mention this musical drama film whenever there is a conversation on the musical genre. Farhan Akhtar and Arjun Rampal introduced the audiences to pop music bands and their struggles. Most of the songs of the film are sung by Farhan Akhtar itself. The songs Socha Hai and Rock On were in the chartbusters of the year.
