Known as the Megastar of Tollywood, or Telugu cinema, Chiranjeevi recently came out with his latest film, the epic period action drama Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy. The film, produced by his actor son, Ram Charan, was released on October 2, and has emerged as a successful film at the box-office. Chiranjeevi is a huge draw in Telugu-speaking states. Over the course of his four-decade-long career, Chiranjeevi has acted in over 151 films.

1. Gharana Mogudu (1992)

Released in 1992, Gharana Mogudu was directed by veteran film director, K. Raghavendra Rao. It was a remake of the 1986 Kannada film, Anuraga Aralithu, which starred the legend of Kannada cinema, Dr Rajkumar. Chiranjeevi portrayed the role of a worker at the Vishakapatnam port, who gets into a battle with his head-strong boss, Uma Devi, played by actress Nagma. Gharana Mogudu was a blockbuster upon its release and was the highest-grossing Telugu film of its time, and Chiranjeevi ended up being the highest-paid actor in India. Bollywood film lovers will figure out that this film was remade in Hindi as the 1994 film, Laadla, starring Anil Kapoor and the late Sridevi.

2. Indra (2002)

Indra was released in the year 2002. Directed by B.Gopal, the film starred Chiranjeevi, Aarti Agarwal and Sonali Bendre. The story of the film focused on the bitter rivalry between two families and how Chiranjeevi's character works on many things better between the two families. Upon release, the film was a huge hit and fans loved Chiranjeevi's performance. It was dubbed in Hindi as Indra- The Tiger and was popular in the Hindi film channels. 

3. Rudraveena (1988)

Directed by the great K. Balachander, Rudraveena translates to Strings of anger. The film starred a young Chiranjeevi along with the doyen of Tamil cinema, Gemini Ganesan. The story focuses on the ideological conflicts between 'Bilahari' Ganapathi Sastry, a reputed Carnatic musician and his younger son Suryanarayana "Suryam" Sastry. Upon release, it was a critical success but a commercial failure. However, the film has achieved cult status and is considered as one of Chiranjeevi's most iconic performances. Rudraveena won three awards at the National Film awards.
