Salman Khan’s father Salim Khan is considered among the most notable writers of the Hindi film industry. And the actor too has inherited the penchant for writing from his father. After penning the story of Veer, and writing the lyrics of some songs in Race 3, the 53-year-old has once again taken up writing responsibilities for his latest Dabangg 3. His name, however, did not feature on the credits of the motion poster, but was present on the credits of the trailer unveiled later. This, however, happened at the expense of veteran writer Dilip Shukla, who got replaced between the two launches. While Shukla seems to be okay with not being credited for Dabangg 3, Arbaaz Khan called it a ‘digital misprint’ over the different credits.

In a recent interview with a tabloid, Dilip Shukla revealed that he was ‘way past feeling disappointed or upset’ over such issues. Stating that he was not awarded for writing iconic lines for Sunny Deol like Dhai kilo ka haath and Tareekh pe tareekh, he said that when his ‘quality work’ went ignored then, he was not going to feel upset over his name being dropped from the credits now.

He also said in the interview that he had an equation of trust with Salim Khan and his sons for a very long time. Shukla added that the plot of Dabangg 3, involving Chulbul Pandey’s past and present, was Salman’s idea and the screenplay too was his. He said many writers came into the picture during the writing process and the credits were shared accordingly.

Shukla asserted that he was associated with the venture. In the trailer credits, he is credited only as a dialogue writer. While in the motion poster, he was credited for screenplay along with director Prabhudeva and Aloke Upadhyaya. Now, Salman’s name comes with Prabhudeva and Aloke Upadhyaya.

Arbaaz clears the air

Meanwhile, Arbaaz Khan told the tabloid that the different credits in the motion poster and trailer happened because of a ‘digital misprint.’ Arbaaz, who is both an actor and producer on the film, said that the trailer credits are the correct one, and that Dilip Shukla was informed about the change. He also said that such ‘things happen.’

Stating that his father was a writer, the Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya star asked why they would take away the credit from another writer. He added that Salman Khan had come up with the idea and wrote the synopsis. Later, the other writers carried his vision forward, while the actor monitored it with creative interest. He said Salman did a ‘lot more’ in the film but did not take credit for it.

Dabangg 3 has been directed by Prabhudeva. The movie also stars Sonakshi Sinha, Saiee Manjrekar and Sudeep in lead roles. The action-comedy releases on December 20.
