Both of Deepika Padukone’s upcoming films have delighted her fans tremendously; ‘Chhapaak’ for bringing the life story of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal and ‘83’, for being her first film with Ranveer Singh after their marriage. That, however, wasn’t the case with rumours surrounding a possible film with Ranbir Kapoor. No, her ex and ‘Tamasha’ co-star is not the reason why the fans are upset, but the director Luv Ranjan. The filmmaker was one of the names accused during the #MeToo movement last year. As the actress and Ranbir were spotted at Ranjan’s home, the ‘Padmaavat’ star's fans expressed their displeasure by trending #NotmyDeepika for her alleged decision.

On Friday, Deepika and Ranbir were seen at Ranjan’s home. As soon as the pictures surfaced and rumours of a collaboration followed, #NotmyDeepika trended on Twitter briefly, with fans asking her not to do the movie, and not ‘ruin her reputation’ and how it was her responsibility 'to set the right example.' Many neutrals too lauded the ‘fandom’ for holding their favourite star accountable. Here are the reactions:

Ranjan, known for the ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama’ franchise and ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’, was accused of asking an anonymous actress of stripping down to her undergarments while auditioning her during the #Metoo movement in October last year.

He had then apologised if 'someone felt hurt', though he said he has been wanting to scream, "I am not this man, I have been wanting to clear my name.”

Even Ajay Devgn had then stated he won’t work with anyone accused of sexual harassment.

However, Ranjan worked as a writer-producer on Ajay's movie ‘De De Pyaar De’ earlier this year.

Deepika’s visit had come after Alia Bhatt was also snapped at the venue, sparking rumours of the 'Raazi' star being in consideration for the film too. The movie in question is the one also starring Ajay Devgn, so it is likely that it could be a two-hero, two-heroine venture. The movie, announced with fanfare in May 2018 is scheduled for a Christmas 2020 release.
