Deepika Padukone is currently said to be one of the most successful female actors in Indian showbiz. Recently, Deepika wrapped up the shooting for her movie Chhapaak, which is set to release on January 10, 2020. The movie is based on the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. Another movie, 83, reportedly based on the 1983 world cup win, is currently being shot. The movie will see Deepika Padukone playing the role of Romi Bhatia, Kapil Dev's wife. Here are more details about the two movies.

Chhapaak

This movie is based on the acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal's lifestory. Bablu Pandit aka Vikrant Massey of movie Mirzapur fame shares the screen with Deepika Padukone in this story that is based on real-life events. The film is also Deepika’s first project as a producer. Vikrant plays the role of Amol, who is a social activist, in the film. The film, directed by Meghna Gulzar, is a biopic on the acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. The movie, made under the banner of Fox Star Studio, is scheduled to be released in January next year. Chhapaak is reportedly a social drama that promises to sensitize moviegoers on the menace that acid attackers pose to civil society. Reports suggest that Deepika recently had trouble keeping her emotions at bay while playing her character. Sources stated that on the first day of the shoot itself, Deepika could not hold back her tears.

83

Reliance Entertainment hosted an event in September 2017 to announce the production of the film 83. Directed by Kabir Khan, the film is a dramatisation of real events leading up to India's world cup win in 1983 under Kapil Dev's captaincy. The cast of the film reportedly had to undertake training in playing cricket. The lead actor Ranveer Singh, who is reprising the role of Kapil Dev in the film, also shared a picture of the training session on Instagram. Balwinder Sandhu and Yashpal Sharma trained the team at Dharamshala Cricket Ground. The shooting of the film, the majority of which is being shot in England, commenced in May of this year. Amiya Dev, the daughter of Kapil Dev, makes her debut as an assistant director with this film. Deepika plays the role of Romi Bhatia, Kapil Dev’s wife. Incidentally, Romi Bhatia is also a co-producer of the film. Reports suggest that considering the cricket frenzy in the country, the film is expected to be an exciting watch for many.
