Punjabi Bollywood singer Diljit Dosanjh has been asked by the Federation of Western Cine Employees (FWICE) to cancel his show at the United States in September

Punjabi Bollywood singer Diljit Dosanjh has been asked by the Federation of Western Cine Employees (FWICE) to cancel his show at the United States on September 21 keeping in mind the 'sentiments and the dignity of the nation', as the event is being promoted by Rehan Siddiqi, who is of Pakistani origin.

For the uninitiated, a few weeks back, Salman Khan had reportedly called off a Houston concert project alongside Mika Singh as the singer had faced flak for performing in Pakistan and also because the event was promoted by the same, Rehan Siddiqi. 

FWICE's letter to Diljit Dosanjh: 

In a letter dated 6th September and addressed to Diljit Dosanjh, the FWICE have clearly stated that through the document they want to draw attention to the 'unbridled race of Artists/Singers/Dancers and Performers' as they have been informed about the invitation of Rehan Siddiqi to him (Dosanjh) for a stage performance as a singer in America

"You are a thorough gentleman and a superb artist which is the pride of India. It is, therefore, a humble request top you to cancel your performance for 21st Sept 2019 in America as it will be befitting in the current time", the letter further stated. Read it below- 

FWICE then also issued a press release stating that they are deeply concerned and anguished by various artists as they are 'knowingly' performing in India despite the film bodies strict warnings. "We have also come to know from our reliable sources that actor Saif Ali Khan and singer Shreya Ghoshal, in particular, are giving [performances in America at the behest of Mr. Rehan Siddiqi, a Pakistani national.

Prior controversy: 

Midway last month, news surfaced that Mika Singh had performed in Karachi with his troupe to perform at the wedding ceremony of the influential billionaire's daughter who is said to be close to Musharraf. The singer reportedly performed on August 8 at the ceremony and his presence in the city came to light when some guests uploaded videos of his performance on social media.This did not sit well with netizens and fans who revolted over the idea and called him a 'traitor' on social media. 

After the social media uproar, FWICE and AICWA banned the artist. The former even went ahead to say that any artist who works with Mika Singh will be banned henceforth. This was said in reference to the six-day gig that Mika Singh was all set to embark on along with Salman Khan. He was all set to join the group from the Houston leg of the tour.

However, after a press conference, Mika Singh publicly apologised to the nation for performing in Pakistan after which the ban was revoked by the film bodies
