Dulquer Salmaan says he is open to doing films in various languages

Dulquer Salmaan, son of superstar Mammootty, was recently seen in his second Bollywood film, The Zoya Factor. He is quite open about doing multi-lingual films.

The son of veteran Malayalam actor Mammootty, Dulquer Salmaan has been a part of many eccentric films in Tamil, Telugu and now Hindi language as well. Dulquer made his debut in Hindi cinema through Karwaan in 2018 alongside Irfan Khan and Mithila Palkar. Recently, his other Bollywood film The Zoya Factor was released which also stars Sonam Kapoor. When asked about doing films in various languages, Dulquer has been quite open about it.

In an interview with Indian film critic Rajeev Masand, Dulquer has talked about his focus while choosing films. Dulquer feels that he does not want to lose focus from the Malayalam film industry. He owes every opportunity now to all the films he has done in the Malayalam industry. He feels that it is good that India is a multi-lingual country. Although he loves Hindi and other languages, the Karwaan actor wants to stay loyal to the Malayalam film industry. He also likes to explore and is blessed in getting various opportunities. How important was it for him to do a Hindi film? Dulquer said that he wasn't actively pursuing it. Whenever offers come his way, he would be open to go with them. In a conversation at the Mumbai Film Festival in 2018, Dulquer Salmaan also claimed that he chose Karwaan because it was an interesting opportunity and he was not packing any bags.

Dulquer Salmaan entered acting by choice and made an unconventional entry with his debut film, Second Shaw (2012) where he played a gangster. The film was commercially successful and won him the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. Dulquer Salmaan movies that brought him laurels are Ustad Hotel (2012), Bangalore Days (2014), Njaan (2014) Charlie (2015) Kammatipaadam (2016) and Karwaan (2018). His recent release The Zoya Factor is based on Anuja Chauhan’s 2008 novel with the same name. Dulquer is seen playing Nikhil Khoda who is the captain of the Indian cricket team in the film. Out of all the movies of Sonam Kapoor, Neerja (2016) earned her best actress at the 64th National Film Awards.
