'Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi' Shows Steady Box Office Growth

The audiences accepted Diana Penty and Jimmy Sheirgill's 'Happy Bhag Jayegi' with open arms when the film hit screens in 2016. Director Mudassar Aziz is now back with its sequel titled 'Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi' and joining the cast for the second instalment is Sonakshi Sinha. The film which released on August 24 has raked in Rs. 6.73 crore so far. 'Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi' had earned Rs. 2.70 crore on its first day at the box office.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#HappyPhirrBhagJayegi shows HEALTHY GROWTH on Sat... Sun is expected to be better... Opening weekend biz is expected to be in the same range as the first part [#HappyBhagJayegi had collected ₹ 10.71 cr]… Fri 2.70 cr, Sat 4.03 cr. Total: ₹ 6.73 cr. India biz."

Jimmy Sheirgill reprises his role as Daman Singh in the film which stars Diana Penty as Harpreet Kaur (Happy #1) and Sonakshi Sinha as Navpreet Kaur (Happy #2). The movie marks Jassi Gill's debut appearance in the franchise.

Meanwhile, Sonakshi Sinha will also be seen in the Abhishek Varman directorial 'Kalank'. The period film also features Sanjay Dutt, Varun Dhawan, Madhuri Dixit, and in key roles with Madhuri allegedly playing the role of the leader of prostitutes. While Varun will portray the role of a Muslim blacksmith during the British rule in India and Sonakshi Sinha will play the role of a Banjaran. According to reports, Aditya Roy Kapur, who is playing an artisan in the film, accompanied by Varun Dhawan starts a rebellion against the British government. The film is slated for an April 2019 release. In addition to this, Sonakshi will also be seen in the third instalment of Salman Khan's 'Dabangg' franchise. The actress also stars in 'Total Dhamaal' which is the third instalment of the 2007 comedy flick 'Dhamaal' which starred Sanjay Dutt, Ritesh Deshmukh, Arshad Warsi, Aashish Chaudhary and Javed Jaffrey in the lead. 'Total Dhamaal' starring Ajay Devgn, Anil Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit, Javed Jaffrey, Arshad Warsi, Riteish Deshmukh, Esha Gupta, will release on December 7, 2018. As per recent reports, Sonakshi will be recreating a famous 1970s song in the film. The 'Tevar' actress will reportedly shake a leg to one of the most iconic songs of all time, 'O Mungada Mungada'.
