'Hotel Mumbai': Anupam Kher's 501st film is a "landmark project"

Hotel Mumbai is a Landmark project for Anupam Kher as it is his 501st film. The actor who is moved by the project says that it has taught him to value humanity.

Veteran Bollywood actor Anupam Kher who has a career spanning over 35 years, is all set to star in the upcoming thriller-drama 'Hotel Mumbai' which is based on the horrific Mumbai 26/11 attacks. The actor who is reportedly very moved by the project says that it has given him one of life's biggest learning, to value humanity above all.

Hotel Mumbai is a Landmark project for Anupam Kher as it is his 501st film. The veteran star, during a recent interview, said he considers himself very fortunate to have gotten the opportunity to work on such impeccable films.

"It's been 35 amazing years for me in this great industry I work in. I have had the fortune to work on such impeccable films and with equally impeccable talent,"  PTI quoted Anupam Kher as saying.

"I'm happy this film, Hotel Mumbai is my 501st film. It's a landmark project for me and for all those brave souls who help continue the spirit of humanity in dire times of need," he reportedly added.

Hotel Mumbai

Meanwhile, on the work front, Anupam Kher is now gearing up for the release of his film Hotel Mumbai, which is based on Mumbai terror attacks that took place on November 26, 2008. Rather than focusing on all the different attacks, this mainly covers the isolated incident when terrorists laid siege to the Taj Mahal hotel near the Gateway of India. The makers have taken up a unique perspective as it narrates the incident from the point of view of the hotel attendants of Taj. 

Hotel Mumbai which also stars Dev Patel features him as a simple Sikh man who works as a staff member at the hotel, whereas Anupam Kher plays the role of a chef, who takes charge of the situation as the crisis takes place. It also features Armie Hammer as one of the foreign guests who was staying there at the time.

The Indian-American-Australian thriller film is directed by Anthony Maras and written by John Collee and Maras. It is based on the 2009 documentary 'Surviving Mumbai'. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 7, 2018, and is all set to hit the Indian theatres on November 22, 2019.
