Ice skating 'Ghoomar' goes viral

'Ghoomar' is climbing up the charts to become people's favourite already

'Ghoomar' song from Bollywood's 'Padmaavat' film is climbing up the playlist to become people's favorite already. The song voiced by playback singer Shreya Ghosal features Deepika Padukone performing in Indian traditional dance form Ghoomar in the film. The song created a huge buzz on the very day of its release and now fans across the globe are getting innovative with this piece of art. We've seen the cheerleader at NBA shake a leg to this folk number to now the ice skating version of the song is going viral.

Mayuri Bhandari, an artiste has shared the video on social media in which she is seen twirling to the groovy number.

Here's how she has captioned her post: 

"In honor of the film 'Padmaavat's release, here is my ice skating tribute to the beautiful song 'Ghoomar'! As a Rajasthani, I skate to this song with pride!"

In the video, Mayuri is seen dressed in a red and golden short lehenga choli and skating shoes performing to the song as she amazes the audience with her dancing and ice skating skills. The video is showered with likes, comments, and shares and she was lauded widely by the netizens.

Amidst several controversies  'Padmaavat' finally released on January 25, this year.  Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the movie stars Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor, and Ranveer Singh in the lead roles. Based on Malik Muhammad Jayasi's epic poem of the same name, the film tells the story of valour of Rajput queen Rani Padmavati, wife of Maharawal Ratan Singh, the king of Chittor (an old Indian province).

The story revolves around how the tyrant king Sultan Alauddin Khilji fell in love with the queen and desired to have her but ultimately fails in his attempt as the queen performs 'Jauhar', a traditional way of ending one's life by jumping into the holy fire. With a production budget of Rs 2.15 billion, 'Padmaavat'  has made it to the list of the most expensive Indian films. The movie has been creating ripples ever since it was announced and the audience is eagerly waiting to see Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus create magic on the silver screen.
