IIFA 2019: Ali Fazal says, 'Some heavy shoes I will have to step into'

In an exclusive interaction with Republic TV, Ali Fazal spoke about hosting IIFA Rocks 2019 & bagging a role opposite Gal Gadot in 'Death on the Nile'.

Ali Fazal a.ka. 'Guddu Bhaiya' from cult series 'Mirzapur' is all set to host the homecoming edition of IIFA Rocks this year. With IIFA coming to India for the first time to celebrate its 20th year, Ali Fazal in an exclusive interaction with Republic TV spoke about the mega event honoring Indian cinema. He said: "It is really cool, for the first time, homecoming. I feel so honored and privileged that they came to me for hosting with Radhika who is also a friend, so it kind of became easy. Also, this year, I completed a decade in this industry, so this is really special for me. Good times."

Fazal further clarified that he was nervous earlier but then he broke the ice with Radhika Apte on stage during rehearsals. He said: "We will get to know on the final day. We've made sure our interactions are more organic than scripted. We will know if our joke bombs or not on the final day." Ask Fazal about the one memorable moment from IIFA that has always stayed close to his heart, he says, "I remember Kevin Spacey on stage. It was hilarious and beautiful at the same time. John Travolta was also there."

When asked who is Ali Fazal's favorite actor from the previous year? And the actor didn't hesitate to answer and bang came 'Ayushmann Khurrana' and 'Alia Bhatt in Raazi', as his answers. Will he be attending the big event on September 18, Ali in a disappointed tone said: "I am flying out to London to shoot for two months and missing the big day." For those unaware, actor Ali Fazal is set to share screen space with "Wonder Woman" star Gald Gadot in 20th Century Fox's upcoming adaptation of Agatha Christie's "Death on the Nile".

Talking about the same, Fazal said: "Such a great franchise to be a part of. My mother used to read the novels, so we have the entire collection. Some heavy shoes I will have to step into. It was a long time back that I auditioned for it but this April I got the news." Fazal concluded by throwing some light on his future projects and said: "We just wrapped up Season 2. Bhoot Police is with Saif and Fatima which will happen once I am back from London."
