‘Saare Jahaan Se Achcha’ is the story of astronaut Rakesh Sharma, who is the first Indian to enter space. Earlier, Aamir Khan was set to star in the movie, but he opted out of it later.  When the ‘Rang De Basanti’ star was set to do the film, Priyanka Chopra was to be cast opposite him. The latter had confirmed that she was in talks with the makers for the film, but she wasn’t aware of the status of the film after Aamir’s exit.

Since SRK has been linked to the project, names of Kareena Kapoor Khan, Rani Mukerji and Bhumi Pednekar, have done the rounds regarding the lead actress. Apparently, since the role of the female character, said to be Rakesh Sharma’s wife, is not meaty enough, some names have been apprehensive about signing on the dotted line. The movie is also produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur and will be helmed by Mahesh Mathai.

SRK is currently busy with the post-production of ‘Zero’, which he stars in and co-produces. The superstar will, in all probability, venture straight into ‘Saare Jahaan Se Achcha’ after the release of the Aanand L Rai directorial on December 21. 'Zero' features the actor in the role of a vertically challenged man who aspires to meet a Bollywood actress, played by Katrina Kaif's character. The movie also stars Anushka Sharma and has cameos by R Madhavan, Abhay Deol, among others.
