Joker: Joaquin Phoenix-starrer becomes the first R-rated film to hit one billion club

Based on the popular DC Comics character, Hollywood movie Joker has successfully crossed the one billion mark. According to a report by a leading daily, this movie is the first R-rated film ever to hit the milestone. Moreover, this psychological thriller is the highest-grossing film which never screened in China.

Helmed by Todd Phillips, this iconic movie stars Joaquin Phoenix in the lead role as Joker. A per reports, Joker is the seventh biggest blockbuster Hollywood film at the box office in 2019 after Marvel Comics-based Avengers: Endgame and Jov Favreau’s animated musical film The Lion King. This Joaquin Phoenix-starrer is expected to garner nominations in forthcoming award functions. Despite garnering loads of appreciation, this movie was called violent by some critics.
