Kareena Kapoor Khan started her career in the year 2000 with the movie ‘Refugee’. She was born into a family with generations of actors. From her great grandfather, Prithviraj Kapoor, to her uncles and other family members, all have been one of the most prominent and famous names of Bollywood. Being from a celebrity family, she always had the tag of a ‘celeb-kid’, and everybody expected her to carry the same fame ahead. She did, but not in the name of her family background. Kareena Kapoor stood up on her own, with her own individuality and made a name for herself. Though Kareena accounts for a good amount of box office hits, there are certain movies that she rejected in her career trajectory. Here is a compilation of movies that were rejected by Kareena Kapoor Khan.
Kareena was all set to make her debut with Hrithik Roshan’s Kaho Na… Pyaar Hai. She was cast for the lead role of Sonia. Though the actress started shooting, she decided to walk out mid-way of the movie shoot. Reportedly, Kareena Kapoor rejected the role as she thought that the role won’t provide her with any profit. Later, Ameesha Patel replaced her. The movie was a blockbuster hit and Ameesha got her major breakthrough.
Kareena Kapoor, in an interview with a leading daily, explained that she has rejected six movies, including Queen. This was because she didn’t want to do something which wasn’t great. She further revealed that if she is not willing to be a part of a particular movie, she would rather not do it and sit at home and read a book. Kareena informed that she didn’t care about people writing anything about her as people questioned her for rejecting movies.
Kareena Kapoor was asked about her reason to reject renowned director Sanjay Leela Bansali's movie. She reportedly said that the role didn’t interest her at all. She also added that she firmly believes the fact that there is work for everyone and one loss won’t take her ‘super-heroine’ tag away from her. Ramleela turned out to be one of the biggest hits of that year.
Kareena Kapoor created a buzz when there was a rumour that she would be starring as a lead in this Rohit Shetty movie. But Kareena decided to reject this movie too. Reportedly, she rejected the movie because of date issues.
Black was a massive hit at the box office. The movie was included in the '10 Best Movies' list of that year by a prestigious magazine. Bebo rejected the movie, and Rani Mukherjee replaced her. The movie also won two National Awards. Rani Mukherjee and Amitabh Bachchan were the lead in this movie.
