Resul Pookutty thanked Shah Rukh Khan for his quick action in contributing a significant sum of money to help the flood victims.

As the horrific floods engulf the state of Kerala due the persistent rains, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan requested people to make generous contributions towards the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund in a press meet on Thursday. Several Bollywood celebrities have responded to the appeal and made significant contributions in the flood relief program. The King Khan of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan, has also taken up an active role to help the flood victims. After he donated a significant amount, Academy Award-winning sound designer Resul Pookutty responded to his deed and thanked him for his quick action. 

As the government announced the need to raise funds to continue rescue operations and restructure the state, Pookutty personally approached several eminent personalities including Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and  A. R. Rahman to contribute to the relief funds. Confirming SRK's quick response to his request, Pookutty took to Twitter and said, "I have personally reached out to most of them @SrBachchan @iamsrk and @arrahman were quick to react and we are consolidating our fare share of help to #Keralafloods and my fraternity says #istandwithkerela I’m humbled! Thank you so much !"

He further thanked Shah Rukh personally saying, "Thank you so much @iamsrk me personally and the people of Kerala are indebted to you for your generosity and quick action...respect"

In addition to the aforementioned actors, Resul thanked Alia Bhatt and Sonam Kapoor too for extending financial aid to the victims of the Kerala floods. 

According to media reports, the weather department has stated that the rain will continue till Saturday. The death toll has risen to 324 and thousands of people have taken shelter in the rescue camps. Several other celebrities including Varun Dhawan, Farhan Akhtar, John Abraham, Sonam Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Siddharth Malhotra,  and Vidya Balan have extended their help and also urged the fans to donate and pray for all those who are affected by the floods.
