Lisa Ray opens up about her cancer diagnosis at an event

The Indian-Canadian actor Lisa Ray was recently seen in Delhi attending an event. Read more to know about how she opened up about her cancer diagnosis.

Lisa Ray is an Indian-Canadian actor and author. She is also a philanthropist and social activist. She made her acting debut in the Indian Film Industry with her role in the Tamil language movie Nethaji in the year 1994. In the year 2005, she appeared in the Canadian film Water. The movie was premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.  She is also the author of the book Close To The Bone which talks about the struggles of her life as she fights against cancer. Lisa Ray opens up about her cancer diagnosis at an event 

The Indian-Canadian actor Lisa Ray was seen sporting an anti-pollution mask in the midst of all the pollution in the city of Delhi. Ray was there to attend an event on Sunday. While speaking at the event she opened about her cancer diagnosis saying that her doctor was scared, because after he announced the new of her multiple myeloma she did not react. Her doctor said that it was incurable and fatal yet she did not react to it. She said that while the doctor was breaking the news to her, she was thinking about how her body had been trying to give her signals for months but she had been avoiding the signs. She stated how she intuitively knew that there was something wrong but she did not have the courage to do anything about this because she had trained herself to ignore what her body told her.

She went on to add that in her profession, you cannot go home if you are sick, you have to take medicines and get back to work. She added that she had not dealt with the trauma of the accident. “What do we do when we don’t want to face something? We keep busy. I did that.” Then one day she finally decided to give in and listen to her body. Lisa Ray said that it was then she realised that it was a time of reckoning. She stated that she knew it wasn’t the end of her, and she is not going to die, but she also knew that it wasn’t going to be easy.
