Shekhar Kapur is one of the few directors who has left a legacy for budding film-makers to learn through his work. He has delivered several hits at the Indian box office and later on went to do some brilliant work outside the country as well. Masoom

The 1983 drama film opened up to positive reviews and was a super-hit at the box office. The powerful performances by Naseeruddin Shah and Shabana Azmi were loved by fans. It is written by legendary writer Gulzar. The film also fetched Shekhar Kapur a nomination in the Filmfare Awards for Best director. The film has even received a cult status over the last few years.

Mr.India

Mr. India was one of the most unique concepts at the time of its release. There were hardly any science fiction movies made in the country. The story revolves around a man who comes across a special watch that can make anyone invisible. The film was one of the highest-grossing films in 1987.

Bandit Queen

Shekhar Kapur is known for his off-beat storylines and this film is one of them. The film is based on the life of Phoolan Devi and stars Seema Biswas in the lead role. It isn't a typical mainstream film. The film received critical acclaim and was also India's entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 67th Academy Awards.

Elizabeth

Shekhar Kapur is one of the few Indian directors who has worked for International cinema. Elizabeth was his first international project. The film is based on the real-life of Queen Elizabeth I of England. The film won the Best Makeup Award at the 71st Academy Awards.  It is considered as one of the best work of the director.

The Four Feathers

The adaptation drama features Heath Ledger, West Bentley, Djimon Hounsou, and Kate Hudson. It revolves around the British Army’s Gordon Relief Expedition in Sudan. The 2002 war-drama earned Shekhar Kapur wide acclaim for his filmmaking. The film earned good numbers at the US box office as well.
