There is a lot of eagerness to see Ritesh Deshmukh in his upcoming Indian action-drama – Marjaavaan. The film is directed by Milap Zaveri. Marjaavaan features Riteish Deshmukh, Sidharth Malhotra, Tara Sutaria, and Rakul Preet Singh. The movie was supposed to release on October 2 but got delayed. It is now scheduled to release on November 8, 2019.
We will see Sidharth Malhotra in the lead role whereas, Riteish will be the antagonist. This film is the second time we will see Sidharth and Riteish pitched against each other, where Riteish plays the antagonist.

Riteish will play the role of a malefic dwarf

Tseries uploaded a poster of the movie on Instagram, featuring Riteish Deshmukh and Sidharth Malhotra. We can see Riteish as a dwarf and behind him is a massive figure of Ravana with ten heads. Milap, in an interview stated, “We decided to make his villain three-foot-tall but larger-than-life with a wicked sense of humour. His Vishnu is arrogant and thinks he is invincible.” Riteish was not very keen on working again as a villain, so the director decides to tweak the character into a dwarf.

Other actors who tried putting on and pulling off smaller shoes

Filmmakers keep experimenting with their characters. It is always interesting to see the actors showing their versatility. In the past, a few of the Bollywood actors have tried to pull off the character of a dwarf. Here are a few who played a dwarf in the movies.

Kamal Hasan

Kamal Hasan played the role of a dwarf in his well renowned 1989 movie Appu Raja. He played the role of twins in the movie, separated at birth. One of them is a dwarf, and the other one is a normal-sized human. He also played the role of their father in the same movie. Although this was not enough for the star as he went on to act in a film called Dasavathaaram, where he played ten different roles. 

Anupam Kher

In Jaan-E-Mann, Anupam Kher experimented with his role. Mr Kher received a lot of attention for this role. Anupam Kher is hilariously comical in some of the roles he played over the years. His character in Jaan-E-Mann was equally appealing.

Shah Rukh Khan

Shah Rukh Khan played a dwarf called Bauua Singh in his 2018 film Zero. While it was a fun character, it failed to charm the audience. The film was not as big a hit as expected despite extensive promotion and an exceptional star cast. Anushka's character was also a rather interesting one in the film.

We are looking forward to seeing Riteish Deshmukh in this new and challenging role. The movie is still in the filming phase. The film will release on 8^th November 2019 in India.
