'Mere Pyare Prime Minister' trailer celebrates innocence and determination extending a strong social message

The trailer of the much-anticipated social drama 'Mere Pyare Prime Minister' released on Sunday, February 10. The inspirational drama helmed by director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra is born out of a tragedy which deals with the sensitive issue of open defecation in the country.

The trailer of the much-anticipated social drama 'Mere Pyare Prime Minister' released on Sunday, February 10. Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter and reviewed the trailer announcing the release of the same. The inspirational drama helmed by director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra is born out of a tragedy which deals with the sensitive issue of open defecation in the country. It narrates the story of an 8-year-old who aspires to build a toilet for his mother and lands up in front of the Prime Minister's residence for the same.

The film looked promising from the very first visuals, the innocence and strong determination of the young boy, played by Om Kanojiya, has won the hearts of the viewers. Sharing the two and a half minute video on the micro-blogging site, Adarsh wrote, "So good... 'Mere Pyare Prime Minister' narrates the journey of the boy named Kanhu, who stays in a slum that has no toilets. He lives with his mother Sargam, played by Anjali Patil, who he loves a lot. He does odd jobs to support her in running their household. The trailer starts on a lighter note but takes an emotional turn when one day, Sargam goes out to defecate in the middle of the night and is raped by a man on her way back home.

Little Kanhu then decides to avenge her mother and writes a letter to the Prime Minister, seeking help. Concerned about his mother's safety, Kanhu reaches out to the one person who he feels is the most powerful person in India- the Prime Minister. "How would you feel if something like this happens with your mother," he asks in the letter.

The cast of the film also includes Atul Kulkarni, who plays an official at the Prime Minister's Office, who promises to forward his letter. The film is scheduled to release on March 7, 2019.
