#MeToo : Aamir Khan And Kiran Rao Arrive At Producers Guild Meeting To Discuss Ways To Make The Industry Safe For Women

Recently, Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao arrived at Producers Guild for a special meeting to discuss ways to make the industry safer for women. 

Following the back-to-back accusations against celebrities, on Tuesday, the Producers Guild of India released a statement which read, 

"Producers Guild of India extends its complete support to the movement to call out and report sexual harassment and abuse whenever and wherever it occurs in our industry. We believe that there is an urgent need to set up a robust process to ensure the highest standards of safety for employees and crew members at the workplace - whether in offices or on sets of productions. We are instituting a committee within the Guild to lead this effort, and we are determined to stay the course till workplaces in the industry are safe spaces for Everyone."

Recently, actress Tanuhsree Dutta had accused actor Nana Patekar of sexually harassing her on the sets of teh film 'Horn Ok Pleasss. The movement initiated by Tanushree has encouraged several to speak about and point their perpetrators. In addition to Nana Patekar, Vivek Agnihotri, Chetan Bhagat, Alok Nath, Vikas Bahl, Rajat Kapoor, Kailash Kher, Zulfi Syed, Utsav Chakrabarty, and Gursimran Khamba have been accused of sexual misconduct.

As per the website of the Producers guild of India, it states,"Producers Guild of India is the premier film, television and digital content producers’ body representing the pre-eminent producers of audio visual content in India, with a significant collective contribution to the country’s economy and workforce. The Guild assumes varied roles of significance in the paradigm of the Indian Film and Television and New Media sector such as being a principal negotiator with the Government on various critical industry challenges, industry development, resolving intra and external industry trade disputes, co-productions, treaties, cultural and trade ties with other counties/international bodies, locations and production incentives/liaising with foreign delegations and arranging conclaves for the benefit of its members." Siddharth Roy Kapur is the current president of the Guild.
