Omar Abdullah critiques casting in 'PM Narendra Modi' and 'The Accidental Prime Minister'; Here's what he has to say

The first look poster of the biopic on Prime Minister Narendra Modi was unveiled recently by Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis. Titled as 'PM Narendra Modi', the film stars Vivek Anand Oberoi who will be playing the role of the Prime Minister - adding another big release to the raft of political-dramas that are set to debut in the months leading up to the general elections. And now, former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah has commented on the casting in the two most high-profile releases, remarking unfavourably in Oberoi's case.

Taking to Twitter, the JKNC chief wrote, "Life is unfair Dr Manmohan Singh got someone of the calibre of Anupam Kher. Poor Modi ji has to settle for Vivek Oberoi. Salman Khan hota toh kya maza aata." 

Veteran actor Anupam Kher will be essaying the role of former PM Dr Manmohan Singh in 'The Accidental Prime Minister'. Based on the book of the same name, the movie narrates the account of Sanjaya Baru, who was the media advisor and chief spokesperson to Dr Manmohan Singh during his first term as the Prime Minister. Akshaye Khanna will be seen in the role of Baru in the film which is directed by debutant Vijay Ratnakar Gutte.

'PM Narendra Modi', on the other hand, will be helmed by established filmmaker Omung Kumar who has directed acclaimed biopics like 'Mary Kom' and 'Sarabjit'. The poster of the film was launched by CM Devendra Fadnavis in the presence of Vivek Anand Oberoi, his father and veteran actor Suresh Oberoi and the project's director Omung Kumar of course. Fadnavis also took to Twitter to praise the Prime Minister and congratulated the team for undertaking this task. 

Alongside the movies based on Dr Manmohan Singh and PM Narendra Modi, Thackeray (based on the life and times of Balasaheb Thackeray), Uri: The Surgical Strike, and the NTR biopic are also set to come out in coming months, giving a bit of an election taste to Bollywood.
