What would be the biggest recognition for a film actor? First hit, first award, highest-grossing film or becoming the highest-paid celebrity? For Hrithik Roshan, it was none of them, instead a life story tracing his journey, from a troubled childhood to a successful film career, being featured in a book is what the ‘Dhoom 2’ star called as his ‘biggest recognition ever’.

Hrithik on Tuesday tweeted pictures from the book ‘Stories for Boys Who Dare to be Different’ that celebrates boys who don’t conform to the stereotypical idea of masculinity like Prince Charming or Dragon Slayer, who are likely the role models for most young boys. The book features 100 stories of celebrities like former US President Barack Obama and non-celebrities who were ‘rule-breakers’ and went on to achieve amazing things in their lives. One of the stories in the book is of our very own Hrithik.

The actor shared a photograph of his own story which narrated his stammering problem that caused him to panic when he had to talk and how he was ‘marked out as different’ and was treated by kids cruelly for his extra thumb.

His story in the book narrates how he decided to become an actor at the age of six after working as a child actor in a film. Hrithik managed to overcome his stammering problem with the help of therapy, but being diagnosed with scoliosis, a condition of having a curved spine, threatened to stall his dream of venturing into the world of showbiz.

The actor overcame this too and felt he could go all the way after one day, he didn’t feel any pain while running on the beach.  Later, he even turned down a scholarship to study in America to learn about the world of films, even sweeping floors and making tea on the sets. Later, the turning point in his life, the blockbuster success of his debut ‘Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai’, happened, making him among the most sought-after actors in the industry.

The story also highlights some of his charitable works, including working for kids who faced the same problems as him, as well as mentally challenged children and rebuilding of homes after the floods in South India.
