Period films: Three most anticipated historic films to look forward to

Bollywood knows how to take the audience back in time through the many excellent historic films that Bollywood has come up with over the years. Some classic Bollywood historic dramas are Mughal-E-Azam featuring Prithviraj Kapoor, Dilip Kumar and Madhubala. The movie released in 1960, is one of the most famous period dramas of Bollywood. Released in 2005, Mangal Pandey: The Rising is based on the real-life story of an Indian soldier Mangal Pandey whose role is portrayed by Aamir Khan. Padmaavat released in 2018, starring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor. Jodha Akbar is a 2008 historic drama starring Aishwarya Rai and Hrithik Roshan.

1. Panipat

Panipat is an upcoming Bollywood Historic drama film. The movie features Arjun Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Sanjay Dutt in pivotal roles. The movie is being directed by Ashutosh Gowarikar. The producers of Panipat are Sunita Gowariker and Rohit Shelatkar. Panipat is based on the third battle of Panipat that took place in 1761. The director of the film shared the first poster on his social media.

2. Takht

Takht movie is scheduled to release in 2020. The movie is an ensemble featuring Vicky Kaushal, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Anil Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar and Janhvi Kapoor, under the direction of Karan Johar. Takht is one of the most anticipated movies. Reportedly Vicky Kaushal will be seen portraying the role of Aurangzeb and Ranveer Singh will portray his elder brother Dara. The movie is about bitterness due to the succession of the throne between brothers. Director Karan Johar shared the poster of the film on social media that mentioned the list of the stars in the movie.

3. Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior

The movie is based on the real-life inspiring story of an unsung military leader Tanaji Malusare in the troop of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The cast of the movie includes Ajay Devgn as Tanaji Malusare, Sharad Kelkar as Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Kajol as Lakshmi Bai Scheduled to release in 2020, Taanaji movie is directed by Om Raut and produced under the banner of Ajay Devgn FFilms.
