Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt rang in his 70th year birthday and his daughters  Pooja Bhatt and Alia Bhatt made his day special by announcing the sequel to their home production hit film 'Sadak' which released in 1991. The film featured Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Bhatt in pivotal roles and was a big hit  17 years ago. The filmmaker is gearing up to make a sequel of the movie with the original star cast Sanjay and Pooja but with a slight twist, Pooja's sister Alia Bhatt and Aditya Roy Kapoor are the latest addition to the sequel.

Pooja took to Instagram to announce the sequel by sharing a video which shows the glimpse of the original movie 'Sadak' and ends with the poster of the sequel 'Sadak 2'. She captioned the video as, "And he’s back... Older,more wise,truer,more kind.. to breathe new life into all of our souls & to breathe more soul into all of our lives. I thought birthdays were about receiving presents Pops... and there you go and turn even that on it’s head by giving us a gift instead.. the gift of Sadak2 and the privilege of being directed by you. Shukriya.. I love you! ❤️❤️ "


The 'Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin' actress earlier started a countdown for her father's birthday by sharing nostalgic pictures of Mahesh Bhatt every day.

 'Sadak 2' will be helmed by Mahesh Bhatt and will hit the theatres on March 25, 2020. The film is backed by Mukesh Bhatt and will mark Alia's first venture with her home production. Meanwhile, on the work front, Alia is currently shooting for Ayan Mukerji's 'Brahmastra' co-starring Ranbir Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan and Mouni Roy. The 'Highway' star will also be seen in 'Gully Boy' opposite Ranveer Singh.
