Prasoon Joshi: I have always been an admirer of Kangana Ranaut

Kangana Ranaut's next 'Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi' has been in news ever since the first look of the film was out. Just like Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus 'Padmaavat' this period drama too faced a lot of hurdles. The sets of the film was vandalised by a fringe group, a story similar to that of the Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor starrer.

On the occasion of Prasoon Joshi's 47th birthday as he was addressing the media, he shared that he feels there's no real dispute around 'Manikarnika'.  The current Chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification spoke of his journey and Kangana Ranaut, who will be seen playing the titular character in the period drama. 

Joshi, who is a well known Indian lyricist, screenwriter, poet and ad Guru when quizzed about 'Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi' and working with Kangana Ranaut said, “Working with Kangana in 'Manikarnika' has been a memorable experience. I have always been an admirer of her. I believe she holds an eminent place amongst the evergreen talent of Bollywood.”

Commenting on the controversies that have emerged of late, Joshi said, “Controversies and disputes that are out of control are extremely unfortunate, they should be avoided, a film or an actor should be adjudged on the scale of merit only". He however feels that there is no real dispute around 'Manikarnika'. 

The magnum opus based on the life of Rani Lakshmibai, the hero of India's first war of independence.  After director Radha Krishna Jagarlamudi's (also known as Krish) unavailability and given the involvement that the actress had towards the project, the team insisted that she take charge of the movie. The actress now has the dual role of essaying the titular role and that of directing the film, after Krish made an exit. She has been working with full dedication in her new role and giving it her all. 

Recently, an action scene from the 'Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi' went viral. In that one can clearly see how Kangana Ranaut has gotten into the skin of the character in all seriousness. She looks every bit a fierce warrior queen she is playing.

'Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi' is scheduled to release on January 25, 2019.
