The Thalaiva of the Indian film industry, Shivaji Rao Gaekwad, popularly known as Rajinikanth,  started his career in films in the year 1975. The actor is not just a superstar, but also an inspiration to his fans and followers. It has been more than 40 years when superstar Rajinikanth started his film journey with his debut Tamil movie Apoorva Raagangal. His on-screen chemistry with his female leads has been appreciated several times. Read ahead to know some of the most popular co-stars of the actor.

Jayalakshmi

Jayalakhshmi, better known as Fatafat Jayalakshmi and Rajnikanth worked together in J Mahendran's iconic film Mullum Malarum (1978). Jayalakshmi made her debut in Tamil with K Balachander's Aval Oru Thodar Kathai (1974). In one of his interviews, Rajinikanth has confessed that yesteryear actress Fatafat Jayalaxmi is his favourite co-star.

Sripriya

Sripriya and Rajinikanth's pair was most famous in the '70s and early ‘80s as the duo rolled out hits after hits with Billa and Polladhavan. She was the first heroine in Rajni’s first film as a lead actor in Bairavi in 1978. The dimpled actress did many films with Rajini, including Thai Mel Sathyam, Annai Oru Aalayam, Thanikatturaja and Kaali.

Sridevi

Sridevi starred with Rajinikanth in a handful of films. The duo first came together in Moondru Mudichu. Sridevi was portrayed as the wife of an ageing widower in the film. Reportedly, Rajini was paid Rs 2000 while Sri earned Rs 5000 for the film. The couple has given a number of super hit films like Priya, Johnny and Pokkiri Raja.

Khushboo

Khushboo was the most loved and followed Kollywood heroine during ‘90s. Rajinikanth and Khusboo sizzled the cine industry with some biggest hits like Mannan, Annamalai and Pandiyan. The feisty actress, Khushboo first featured with Rajinikanth in the film Dharmathin Thalaivan.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

The long-awaited combination of Rajinikanth-Aishwarya Rai Bachchan came together for the first time for the film Enthiran. Rajini was cast in a dual role – that of a robotics scientist and a robot which he creates. The film went on to be the highest-grossing film at that time.
