Throwback: Ranveer Singh teary-eyed after his award for 'Best Actor'

Ranveer Singh won his first Filmfare Best Actor Award for his role in Bajirao Mastani. Here are some throwback details from his tear-jerking speech for his win.

Ranveer Singh who made his debut with YRF’s Band Baaja Baaraat is all set to play Kapil Dev in 83’. Ranveer has been high on success since his debut. But the actor received his first Filmfare Best Actor Award six years later for his film Bajirao Mastani. The Simmba actor was all teary-eyed while holding the coveted black lady in his hand. Ranveer Singh’s award-winning speech for his Best Actor Award

The Filmfare Awards 2016 was just another star-studded like every year. Ranveer Singh who drove his success from his debut in YRF film Band Baaja Baaraat to his second Sanjay Leela Bhansali film. The Ramleela actor was nominated with a lineup of seasoned actors. Right from Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan to Varun Dhawan and Ranbir Kapoor. The last lineup of the awards of the night are few of the most anticipated awards of the night.

Rekha walked on stage holding the black lady in her hand and the card that had the best actor's name for 2016. Rekha who was clad in a green sari took her time and announced the best actor’s name and Ranveer Singh had the honour to receive the award. The Bajirao Mastani actor walked on stage took a hold of the black lady and was completely speechless for a couple of moments. He confirmed his state by stating that he was in a daze.

Ranveer thanked his on-screen idols Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan for inspiring him to be an actor. Ranveer Singh went on to thank the entire team of Bajirao Mastani. He dedicated his award to director Sanjay Leela Bhansali for giving him the opportunity to play the historic part of the Peshwa. When Ranveer Singh started speaking about his parents the actor’s eyes were all moist. His reaction left everybody teary-eyed. Ranveer spoke that this dream seemed far-fetched for his family but he thanked them for always being there for him. Even his now wife and Bajirao Mastani co-star Deepika Padukone could not help shedding a few tears. Last but not least Ranveer Singh thanked the audience and the film fraternity for helping him live his out his dream and he walked off the stage with the Filmfare Award for the Best Actor for 2016.
