Salman on the auspicious day of Holi, replied to PM Modi's tweet and said: "We are a democracy and it is every Indian's right to vote. I urge every eligible Indian to exercise your right and  participate in making the Government."

Meanwhile, apart from this, PM Narendra Modi also shared 'Four requests for Democracy' wherein he appealed to the eligible young voters to register for voting and encouraged people to spread awareness about the importance of voting in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

His four requests to the citizens of the country include:

  • Register now
  • Check thoroughly
  • Plan well
  • Mobilise others

The “four requests”, as put out by PM Modi, are for the eligible voters to get themselves registered, make sure their names figure in the list of electoral rolls, plan their voting schedule to make sure they use franchise and to mobilise friends and families to vote in large numbers.

This comes barely four weeks ahead of the first phase of the Lok Sabha election, scheduled on April 11. The Election Commission on Sunday announced the dates of General Elections 2019. The nation will go into polls in seven phases beginning from April 11 till May 19. The counting of votes for all the states is scheduled to take place on May 23.
