Vidhu Vinod Chopra, who is popularly known for his films like Sanju, 3 Idiots, Munna Bhai MBBS and many more is back again with his next film Shikara: A love letter from Kashmir. The film will narrate the story of the 1990 exodus of Kashmiri Pandits. The shooting of the film began in the month of March 2018. The film is all to release on November 8, 2019.

Shikara- A love story from Kashmir based on the life of Kashmiri Pandits?

Vidhu Vinod Chopra marks the comeback of himself as a director with this film after a gap of almost 12 years. As per several reports, Chopra has roped in many local Kashmiri actors whose names are not revealed yet. The film is all about what happened in Kashmir from 1985 to 2015. Chopra also collaborated with agencies in Kashmir to promote local talent. Termed as 'A love story from Kashmir', the film has been shot in the union territory .

Vidhu Vinod Chopra is keen on getting Kashmiri actors on-screen since a long time. However, according to media reports, the context of the film has changed since after Article 370 of the constitution was revoked. Reportedly, the film is been titled Shikara, which basically means a houseboat. The film is said to be well researched and has been presented in such a way that it does not affect the sentiments of the Kashmiri Pandits community.

A close look at Chopra’s filmography will reveal that most of his films have been box-office hits. Some of his popular movies include Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, Parinda, 1942: A Love Story, Mission Kashmir, Parineeta, Munna Bhai MBBS, Lage Rahe Munna Bhai, 3 Idiots, and PK. Discussing about the 3rd part of the Munna Bhai series, earlier this year, Chopra revealed in an interview that he has not yet made any script for Munna Bhai 3, but he will work on it later this year.
