Sunny Deol-starrer Gadar 2 to become fastest Hindi film to earn Rs 450 crore

Sunny Deol came back to prominence in the public fold with Gadar 2. The actioner set in the 1970s plays on the aftermath of the 1947 partition and marks a return for Deol’s Tara Singh and Ameesha Patel’s Sakina. The film, despite releasing alongside Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2, became a massive hit worldwide. Now, the film has made another crucial record.

• The Sunny Deol starrer has set several one-day collection records, including the highest business on August 15. 
• The film has also surpassed the worldwide collection of Rajinikanth starrer Jailer. 

Gadar 2 makes another record

As per trade analyst Taran Adarsh, Gadar 2 has become the fastest Indian film to reach the Rs 450 crore mark at the Indian box office. This comes after Gadar 2 crossed the benchmark on its 17th day at the box office.

The Anil Sharma directorial has won out against the likes of the Siddharth Anand film Pathaan, which achieved the feat on its 18th day. The SS Rajamouli directorial Baahubali 2 now stands in the 3rd position in the criteria, as it crossed Rs 450 crore in India on its 20th day. It should be noted that Sunny Deol is the only actor above 60 years old whose film has attained the status. 

Gadar 2 makes another record 

The sequel has also become the third highest grossing Hindi film, leaving behind KGF 2 (Rs 435 crore). It stands only behind Pathaan (Rs 543 crore nett) and Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion (Rs 511 crore nett). As per trade analyst Taran Adarsh, Gadar 2 earned Rs 13.75 crore on Saturday taking its total to Rs Rs 439.35 crore in 16 days. The movie is expected to cross the Rs 500 crore mark in its fourth week.
