Sushmita marked her acting debut with Mahesh Bhatt’s drama flick Dastak opposite Mukul Dev and Sharad Kapoor in the prominent roles. The comedy-drama movie featuring Salman Khan, Karisma Kapoor and Sushmita Sen in the lead roles was an instant hit right after its release. Biwi No. 1 also stars Anil Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan and Tabu in prominent roles. This David Dhawan directorial flick emerged out to be the second-highest grosser of that year and garnered acclamation from the critics and the audience alike.

Amongst other magical songs from this movie, Chunari Chunari was a popular track during that time. The song presented Sushmita Sen grooving to the beats of the music. Even now this song makes us run towards the dance stage while humming the lyrics alongside.
