Taapsee Pannu refuses to wade into intolerance row, says 'express my views on things which affect me'

Amid the letter vs letter row over ‘intolerance’, Taapsee Pannu maintained a neutral stance. The actress stated that she was in the centre of things, neither belonged to the left wing nor the right.

Amid the letter vs letter row over alleged ‘intolerance’, Taapsee Pannu has maintained a neutral stance. With two groups sending letters to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, claiming and denying hate crimes respectively, the actress stated that she was in the 'centre of things,' and neither belonged to the left wing nor the right.

Reacting to the controversy, Taapsee, at a recent event, stated that she is in the ‘centre of things’ and that she didn’t believe in right wing or left wing politics. The ‘Naam Shabana’ star stated that she has always spoken about the troublesome issues that concern her, and those that has made her proud.

The 31-year-old added that both the groups had their own point of views. However, she cleared the air that no one had asked her to join either of the two groups as a signatory. Taapsee clarified that she prefers social media to convey her thoughts on any issue.

Intolerance row:

Taapsee’s ‘Manmaziyaan’ director and producer of her recent venture ‘Game Over’, Anurag Kashyap is among the most prominent names, including Aparna Sen, Konkona SenSharma, Mani Ratnam that raised ‘intolerance’ in the country by highlighting the mob lynchings and incidents related to ‘Jai Shri Ram’ chants in a letter to PM Modi.

On the other hand, Kangana Ranaut, Prasoon Joshi, Madhur Bhandarkar, 62 celebrities in all, sent a counter letter to slam the other group’s letter as ‘selective outrage and false narrative.’ 

Taapsee on the professional front:

Meanwhile, on the professional front, Taapsee is gearing up for the release of ‘Mission Mangal’, which also stars Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Kirti Kulhari, Sharman Joshi, Nithya Menen and HG Dattatreya. The actress will also be seen in ‘Saand Ki Aankh’, alongside Bhumi Pednekar, on Diwali.
