Tanushree Dutta Controversy: Koena Mitra Comes Out In Support Of The Actress

After several Bollywood celebrities like Sonam Kapoor, Twinkle Khanna and Farhan Akhtar, to name a few, Bollywood actress Koena Mitra has come out in support of Tanushree Dutta. As per reports, Koena said that the ‘gundagiri’ needs to stop and one needs to put an end to the fact that men in the industry dictate the narrative.

Tanushree Dutta in her latest revelation accused Nana Patekar of sexual harassment while filming a special song for 'Horn Ok Please' in 2008. The actress also accused choreographer Ganesh Acharya of pressurising for an intimate sequence for the song. She further accused producer Sami Siddiqui and director Rakesh Sarang of harassing her on the set. 

While talking to Republic TV on September 26, the actress recalled the incident and said, “In 2008 I was shooting for this movie called ‘Horn Ok Please’ and I was harassed on set by Nana Patekar, by Ganesh Acharya, by the producer and director of the movie.” She further went on to add, “I had filed a police complaint but before we could lodge an FIR, a counter FIR was lodged by them which caused my family immense harassment.” 

Post her revelation, several Bollywood stars like Priyanka Chopra, Farhan Akhtar, Parineeti Chopra, Twinkle Khanna to name a few, took to Twitter to support Tanushree Dutta. Bollywood actress Koena Mitra is the latest addition to the list of celebrities who have come out in support of the 'Aashiq Banaya Aapne' actress.

As per reports, Koena said that the ‘gundagiri’ needs to stop and one needs to put an end to the fact that men in the industry dictate the narrative. She also admitted that women subservient to men and follow their orders so as to get work in the industry, as reported.

Farhan Akhtar recently took to Twitter to express his thoughts on the situation and said, "This thread is very telling. @janiceseq85 was there at the time of the incident being debated today. Even when #TanushreeDutta had career concerns to keep quiet 10 years ago she did not & her story hasn’t changed now. Her courage should be admired, not her intention questioned."

Expressing her views on the matter, Sonam Kapoor came out in support for Tanushree Dutta and tweeted saying, "I believe #TanushreeDatta and @janiceseq85 recollection of the account. Janice is my friend, and she is anything but an exaggerator or a liar. And it’s upto us to stand together."

However, Rakhi Sawant who went on to replace Tanushree Dutta in the song had another story to tell. Speaking exclusively to Republic TV, in a deplorable attack, Rakhi in a resorted to victim shaming and said, "The truth is that she (Tanushree) never wanted to be a part of the film. She didn't like the song 'Nathani Utaro' because she was doing many big films back then. When you don't like the song or wanted to be a part of it then why did you waste the money of the producers? Why did you come to the sets? What if the producers now come in the spotlight and file a lawsuit against her for wasting crores of rupees then what will she do? The way she is blaming everyone, even the producers have the right to play the blame game."
